Sterlin H. McGruder, Jr.
Principal

We are excited to welcome Mr. McGruder back home to GPISD where he began his career. A native of Grand Prairie, Texas, Mr. McGruder began his educational career in Grand Prairie Independent School District, where he served in a variety of instructional and leadership roles and developed a strong commitment to student achievement and community engagement.

He comes to Arnold with 25 years of experience in education serving as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. His leadership experience includes serving as principal of David Daniels Academy of Science and Math, principal of Young Men's Leadership Academy at Kennedy Middle School, and currently principal of Marine Creek Collegiate High School an A-rated campus.

Mr. McGruder earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from East Texas State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce. 

Mr. McGruder and his wife, Carla, have three daughters, Dean, Emory, and Harrison. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, supporting his daughters’ activities, and cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners. He is passionate about building strong relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners and believes that every child deserves access to an exceptional education and opportunities for future success. 

Mr. McGruder is excited to join the Arnold family and is eager to build strong relationships with the students, staff, and families of Arnold Middle School.
